Sunday School is sometimes defined as the Church studying the Bible. While that is true, it isn't the whole story. Sunday School is a time of fellowship, a time to laugh and a time to learn. Calvary enjoys a vibrant Sunday School program with classes for all ages. Sunday School starts at 9:45 and runs for an hour. It is preceded by a fellowship time with coffee and donuts that starts at 9:15.
The Nursery handles those children from birth to 2 years old.
Children from 2 years to 4 years enjoy the Toddlers class. They are taught traditional children’s choruses and start their Biblical teaching with studies of most major Biblical characters and events. Teaching is hands on and supported with lots of colorful learning activities.
Beginners- the 4 & 5 year olds enjoy a time of singing, memorizing a Bible verse, listening to a Bible truth, and putting together a craft to help them remember what they have been taught. A paper is sent home each week for parents to review with the child the lessons studied that week. They are encouraged to bring the paper back each week to Sunday School to show that they have completed the review for the week and work towards prizes.
Primary / Junior- The 1st through 6th grade enjoy a time of singing, working on a monthly Bible verse, listening to a themed Bible Truth each month, and spending time on application of the Biblical lesson learned. A paper is sent home each week for parents to review with the child the lessons that were studied that week. They are encouraged to bring the paper back each week to Sunday School to show that they have completed the review for the week.
Junior High- The 7th and 8th grade students enjoy an opening of singing and announcements with the Senior High students and then have their own class that focuses on certain books of the Bible and Bible doctrines.
Senior High- the 9th -12th grade students enjoy a time of singing and announcements, a prayer time, and are currently using the “Fuel” curriculum during their Bible study time. Through this curriculum, senior high students cover all of the Bible doctrines and most Biblical characters in the Old and New Testaments.
For adults we have several choices. There are currently 4 adult electives offered. The electives generally change by the quarter and cover a broad rang of subjects from pure Bible study to the application of biblical principals to specific areas of life.
